My Students
I teach fourth grade at a suburban school in Oklahoma. My students come from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are a diverse and unique bunch. Each day, we strive to do the very best we can. We are a Title I school, and a large percentage of our students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
Our school is a learning community.
We try to meet the needs of every student and challenge them to set and reach goals each and every day.
My Project
Our students live in a world where information is at our fingertips. Students often prefer to watch a quick online video in place of a full-length feature film. This is also true when it comes to their learning.
I am requesting a year long subscription to BrainPop.
BrainPop is an online program that presents concepts in quick, short 3-5 minute video cartoons. It also includes other tools, such as online games and quizzes. BrainPop is a great tool because it gives the students just enough information to get them interested in the topic at hand. It is presented in a fun and easy to understand way. BrainPop is the perfect introduction to many of our fourth grade concepts - and the students love it!
