My students need a classroom pack of Crayola crayons, markers, and colored pencils, as well as a package of glue sticks and children scissors.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Peters's classroom raised $350

My Students
In 6th grade social studies, we are always engaged in hands on projects. Students love doing art in social studies and it helps motivate students and engage artistic learners who might not otherwise be engaged.
I teach at a public charter school in NY.
As a public charter school, our students come from all over and represent a wide population in terms of economics and cultural diversity. Since the population is so diverse, students love to learn about the world around them, and the different cultures and religions that make up our school.
My Project
I have requested a classroom pack of Crayola crayons, markers, and colored pencils, as well as a package of glue sticks and children scissors. The students will use these supplies in a variety of ways. 1) To create art projects around social studies topics, and 2) To illustrate their interactive social studies notebooks. These art supplies will also help to engage the creative side of all students within the classroom. In essence, they will help make social studies come alive through art.
Considering that everyone learns in different ways - I use art to tap into the interests of students who like to be creative.
In my experience, most students like to draw and create art - using social studies as the lens is a great way to get them engaged in the material and to learn the content and skills needed.
More than half of students from low‑income households
