Get Cooking! Next Level Healthy Fresh Recipes

Help me give my students supplies for cooking healthy, fresh, and culturally authentic recipes. In Phase 2 of this project we need additional safe, effective kitchen equipment and service items are requested.

My Project

Earlier this school year, we began our culinary journey using the tools and equipment purchased through a previous Donors Choose donation. The popularity has grown and after learning basic skills, students are hungry for more!

These inquisitive 5th grade EL students are discovering a passion for learning in our classroom kitchen.

This STEAM project motivates students to learn the Common Core and WIDA standards, including math, language arts, science, and creative problem solving through engaging culinary lessons. We are trying new and nutritious alternatives for the first time with great success. Food and cooking connects us as people to each other, our families, and cultures.

Student led projects are being developed to expand the curriculum as students work in teams to create cultural recipes and menus while calculating kitchen, service, food and budget planning. These requested items such as towels, a skillet, a waffle iron and other materials will help to provide and off set the expenses that would otherwise make the project impossible due to our limited resources and students from low-income status
