My students live in Queens, NY and attend a Title I school. Although many come from low income families, are English Language Learners or live in temporary housing, they come to school everyday with smiles on their faces. My goal is to always help them feel safe and loved. Each day they are asked to accomplish so much, at 5 and 6 that is a lot to ask, but they do it. I see the progress they are making academically and socially because of their hard work.
My Project
My students love to learn, read and write but their current options are working on the rug or at their desks. Many kindergarteners have trouble siting and working in one place for too long. I want to give them some other options for seating.
My classroom is their second home, I want them to loving coming to school, to be excited, and comfortable to encourage learning.
My wigglers will use the wobble chairs to focus during lessons by allowing them to fidget safely. In addition, students will use cushions to read while in a comfortable quiet spot that is just for them.
