This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a veteran teacher new to my school district as the Board of Education Reading Teacher for grades K-5. Currently I service 33 students mainly in K-2. The classroom furniture I inherited is not a matching set. I have four folding chairs, two small chairs, and two larger chairs. It is difficult to get the chairs to fit around my rectangle and round table. The students are often too close together and it is difficult to assess their knowledge because it is so easy for them to look at each other’s work.
Having the stools would allow students to sit with more space in between one another and allow me to assess their work without having to hunch over the table or move all around the room.
This will also allow more instructional time as well as ensure each of my student’s needs are met based on their varying needs.
I also do not have a smart board or promethean board in my classroom. I try to use my iPad for interactive lessons, programs, video clips, or visuals to aid in engagement and modalities of learning. I have been given an older TV my Aunt and Uncle no longer use, but I have no where to mount it in my classroom. Having the mobile stand would allow me to safely store the screen as well as hook my iPad up to that will allow me to use programs, visuals, or other technology enhancements to my lessons.
