My students need a cozy reading corner to encourage them to read independently for enjoyment!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Jones's classroom raised $330

My Students
Every day in my reading classroom, my seventh grade students are encouraged to read independently for enjoyment. As a majority of them read below grade level, this can be a challenge.
Living in an impoverished rural area of Pennsylvania, many of my students live in homes where reading is not encouraged or valued.
As a result of this, a majority of my students read below their grade level and have developed into reluctant readers. Because their reading skills are so low, their progress in other subjects is beginning to fall behind as they struggle to comprehend science or history materials.
My Project
Currently in my classroom, we have two bean bag chairs which have been the biggest motivator to get my students to read independently. By increasing the seating in our cozy reading corner, I will be able to allow more students to access this incentive and help them develop a passion for reading while increasing their reading skills.
By funding our project, you will help students develop their comprehension skills and love of reading.
The materials will be used year after year allowing your contribution to reach hundreds of children for years to come.
