My students live in Queens, NY and attend a Title I school. Although many come from low income families, are English Language Learners or live in temporary housing, they come to school everyday with smiles on their faces. My goal is to always help them feel safe and loved. Each day they are asked to accomplish so much, at 5 and 6 that is a lot to ask, but they do it. I see the progress they are making academically and socially because of their hard work.
My Project
My Kindergarteners would love some Boogie Board Jots! These will be a great asset to my classroom because they have multiple uses across content areas. Students will use these boards to practice sight words, to solve unknown words during reading by writing the word and using strategies to solve, to answer math problems, as an art tool to draw pictures, to play games like Pictionary during center time, and on the carpet during small group lessons. I am also excited to use these with my English Language Learner population! The best part of all is that we will use less paper.
