My project needs character education workbooks, a decision-making PowerPoint presentation, and 4 character education games.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wilson's classroom raised $386

I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade in a rural alternative program for at-risk youths who are academically behind two or more grade levels. Most of our students come from disadvantaged homes and have social and behavioral issues that prevent them from progressing. Unfortunately, several of them have already experienced incarceration or are on some type of probation. Our middle and high school program is located in an old elementary school and our resources are very limited.
I would like to incorporate more character education training in my Language Arts classes to help my students understand the importance of the common core values that all human beings need to succeed and hopefully begin to apply these values in their own lives. Unfortunately, many of my students only know how to settle differences one way - by fighting! This can eventually lead to expulsion from school and a teenager back on the streets, living a gang lifestyle.
The materials I would like to purchase include a PowerPoint on decision-making skills, a workbook asking students what they would do in certain circumstances, and two games that focus on manners and skills for life. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my proposal and for helping to make a positive difference in a young person's life!
