My Students

My students are hard-working scholars who have opted to take my Syracuse University Project Advance Personal Finance Class. These students in our college-preparatory public high school located in Harlem plan to attend and graduate from college (most of them as the first generation in their family to do so) and pursue a career in medicine, engineering, business, psychology, criminology, social work, teaching, and more.

These students are willing to prioritize their education.

They realize that education is their key to a better life. Although in most cases, my students' family situations are currently challenging and they are living well below the poverty level. They have big plans for their own lives and refuse to let their zip code dictate the trajectory of their lives. They realize that a solid education is key to financial independence and career success.

My Project

We churn out a lot of work in our classroom. Students complete a lot of projects that need to be printed out, and we show lots of calculations on the whiteboard. Consequently, we use up a lot of copy paper and dry erase markers. Those are basic supplies that we need to regularly replenish.

We are very close to using up our 'beginning-of-the-school-year" stock; please help us keep running at full speed!

My students are very engaged and passionate about the work we do in our Personal Finance class. I don't want a lack of supplies to slow us down at all! The energy is amazing, so I want to keep it going!

The envelopes will be used by students for their various college application needs. The vast majority of the students in this course are seniors and they are heading into the heavy season for college applications.
