My Students
My students are in a self-contained Pre-Kindergarten classroom. Most of my students have autism or Down Syndrome. My students are in an early intervention program to provide fine motor, gross motor, pre-academic, and communication skills. We integrate with typical peers during recess. They absolutely love hands-on, active, and engaging lessons where they can work on these skills! They come to school each day ready to learn and grow both personally and academically. They, truly are my inspiration!
My students need daily practice in pre-writing skills and putting together manipulates to advance to kindergarten.
My students excel when they are provided with accommodations and a variety of manipulates that help them improve their fine motor skills.
My students have deficits in fine motor skills, specifically in grasping writing tools and putting together and taking apart objects.
My Project
With students being expected to know and do more in kindergarten. Our program allows my students more time before kindergarten to practice writing skills, cutting skills and use their fingers to manipulate objects to strengthen their grip. The Materials I am requesting will allow them to do this.
My pre-K students have difficulty writing with a pencil/crayon.
Using pencil grips will teach them proper finger placement on writing tools and allow them more control to trace and write.
My students have difficulty cutting with regular scissors. Using the loop scissors will teach my student how to cut independently and allow them to have more control.
My students have weak muscle grasp and need fun materials to help them plan, build, and take apart a variety of manipulatives.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
