This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All students are special and deserve a good education!

The unique group of students that I am teaching are of great need, in high poverty but eager to learn.

They struggle every day trying to overcome basic needs. They live in one of the poorest neighborhoods of the city. They are funny, sweet and hopeful. These students are unfortunately at-risk to high crime, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, poor health, poor fitness and poor nutrition, patiently waiting for them outside of the school gates.

My students come from many countries, so they are also learning the English language and customs of this wonderful country.

My Project

Did you know that germs can thrive up to 48 hours on some surfaces? Students will catch about eight colds a year. Imagine how many days they will lose due to the common cold alone. With so many students in one classroom sharing school supplies, it's no wonder that the classroom can be a breeding ground for cold and flu germs.

We need cleaning and sanitizing supplies that will help keep the classroom clean, will create a healthy environment, and most important will keep the students healthy and learning.

My students will use the supplies daily to wash and sanitize their hands, clean their work areas and develop healthy habits. Students will be able to clean their desks, chairs and materials with the disinfecting wipes and the spray. Creating and maintain the classroom spotless and welcoming. The liquid soap, toilet paper and towels will be use in the students' restroom. I will create lessons about healthy practices to teach students healthy habits. These supplies will reduce the germs in the classroom which will reduce how frequently students; increasing attendance and allowing students to learn.

My school’s attendance last year was under 92%, affecting the students' achievement. This project will allow my students to increase their attendance, stay healthy and increase their academic skills.
