My Students

Remember how fun it was to go to music class in elementary school? Singing songs and playing instruments? With COVID-19 comes a change in instruction and the musical experience. We can no longer pass instruments around and honor the wonderful elementary student practice of sharing. To keep us all healthy, my students will need their own instrument kits.

Our school is a Title I school with 100% of our population participating in the free and reduced lunch program.

We have a diverse student population and have many students who are learning English as a second language. My music program is funded primarily through grants, fund raising, and donations. As the music teacher, I work will all 850 Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. All students with disabilities are mainstreamed for enrichment classes.

My Project

We love sharing in music, but COVID-19 means we need our own materials. Help my students explore music and movement germ free with personal music kits.

Our amazing community has been collecting materials - we need your help to complete the kit!

Recycled materials will be used for drums and castanets and community members are making bean bags.

Your donation will provide each student with 2 bamboo "drum" sticks, a maraca (plastic popcorn-filled egg), a jingle bell, a movement scarf (12 inch tulle square) and a bag to keep it all together.
