Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a high school mathematics teacher in a large urban public school district. This year I am teaching Geometry to freshmen and sophomores.
I know that a lot of students have trouble picturing and recognizing geometric shapes. Furthermore, our school cannot provide the supplies necessary to demonstrate these shapes to my students.
I hope to help my students this year by getting all of the supplies that they would need to be able to see and hold the geometric shapes in each lesson. This would include scissors, compasses, protractors, patty paper, and geometric solids. The more hands-on my students can be, the more they will understand.
By providing us with these resources, you can help my students to see and hold the shapes that I am talking about and not have to just visualize them in their head.
