My Project
My students love to use the dramatic play center. Any time they get to pretend or use their hands to learn they thrive. With this project I am hoping to create a hands on geography center where they can learn about the world from our classroom. This center will hopefully give them exposure to states and countries, and cultures that they might not be familiar with.
There are land formation, World and USA famous landmarks 3D puzzles that they will be able to put together, explore and learn about.
There is a talking USA map that will share facts about the United States to them, that will pair perfectly with a talking globe that I already have. They will enjoy learning the names of capitals, flags, new countries and interesting facts about them. I also have included plastic bins for storage and dry erase markers as we can never have enough of them.
My students love learning about the world around them. They were full of questions when we studied our holidays around the world unit. Now in math we are looking at fractions by comparing colors in different counties flags. I also share a bit about that country we are looking at and they always have more questions than I have time or answers for. My hope is that with this center they will have more questions answered and develop more of a curiosity about our World.
