Geographical Impact on the Development of Latin America
My students need books in their classroom library in order to become independent readers and be able to fulfill classroom assignments.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Barran's classroom raised $293
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of bilingual students who are mostly new comers from other countries. All of them have the desire to learn, however we only have few resources in and around the classroom.
My students are 5th graders who are mostly below grade level, either because they had an interrupted education or because of a language barrier.
They attend a public school that is located in the South Bronx; a neighborhood that is considered to be predominantly a poor neighborhood and their parents have very little resources.
My Project
These resources will change my students' lives for the better because they will be able to become independent readers and independent thinkers. Through their daily reading, they will be able to develop a habit for free reading in which they will read books that interest them, books that their friends will be reading and books for which they feel a passion towards. These resources will be a door opener for our informational nonfiction unit for the students. They will be able to use the books in the classroom and at home. My students will learn that they have the ability to read everywhere and they will be amazed by the amount of information that they can learn from their reading.
Donations to this request will make a difference because my students will realize that somebody else besides their teachers and their parents care about their education.
The broad impact that this project will have on my students is that they will have plenty materials to read. They will have the opportunity to read informational/ nonfiction books for our Latin America unit and at the same time, fiction books for pleasure.
