This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's no secret that students are still living with the impact of a pandemic and a year of school shutdowns. The biggest way that I've seen this is in their need for flexible seating and having various options for work time. Often, my students struggle to sit still in a traditional chair or may need a separate area to work while they regulate some big emotions. As a result, you will see that my project is seeking funding for multiple floor seats and an extra table, which will allow my students to listen to what their bodies need when it's time to get to work. As a school and community, we have also struggled with low funding, especially for things like snacks and feminine hygiene products due to inflation and lost wages. Because of this, the cost most often falls on teachers. My project is seeking funding for these items in bulk. Finally, I am asking for posters that will teach students about the continents, as my previous posters were ruined by a water leak in my classroom.
