My Project

My 5th grade students love Generation Genius!

This project is requesting a classroom subscription renewal for the website Generation Genius.

If you are unfamiliar with Generation Genius, it is a website that provides videos, lesson plans, and activities for teaching the Next Generation Science Standards. Each lesson is anchored by a video with Dr. Jeff and his two student lab assistants. (Think Bill Nye the Science Guy for the modern era.) One example of a Generation Genius lesson was when Dr. Jeff demonstrated density by floating an aluminum foil boat on a heavy gas. The kids were convinced that it was a greenscreen, but soon learned the science reasoning behind it. The website included additional reading materials and activities that we could use to investigate states of matter and density. Every lesson includes a fun Kahoot game and exit ticket to evaluate the learning. All of the lessons are very engaging!
