Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Gee, is that a geoboard? We have a class set of geoboards for our room, but no activities to go with them!
I am a math intervention teacher at a low-income, high English Language Learner population school.
My students are enthusiastic about learning math and love any time we are able to use hands-on activities to teach a new concept or review an old one. Hands on activities are especially important for my students who are just learning English.
My Project
We have a class set of geoboards with the rubber bands, but have no activities to use with them. My students need activity cards and fraction sets to go with our geoboards. The activity sets help teach concepts such as geometric shapes, area, perimeter, congruence, and symmetry. The fraction tiles are especially helpful because fractions are such a hard concept for students to understand. With the fraction tiles, the students can explore equivalent fractions and comparing fractions in a new, visual way.
Thank you for caring about my students and their classroom.
This project will impact many students for this year and also years to come. Please help my students get the resources they need to be successful!
