This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarteners are full of curiosity, joy, and resilience. Many of them are multilingual learners or need extra academic support, but they come to school eager to grow, connect, and try their best each day. What makes them so special is their excitement for learning and the way they support each other like a little classroom family. I want to give them the best possible start to the school year with tools that build independence, organization, and engagement.

This project will help my students start the year confident, organized, and ready to learn.

Chair pockets will allow each child to have a personal space to store their supplies like journals, folders, and manipulatives, which helps reduce distractions and increase focus. Headphones will be used during testing and listening activities, giving students the quiet and concentration they need to do their best. I’ve included pencil holders and erasers to support writing skills, desk pets to encourage responsibility and motivation, and Play-Doh and manipulatives for hands-on practice with letters and shapes. These items will help all my scholars — especially those who need extra structure or support — feel prepared and successful every day. My goal is to create a classroom where every student feels equipped and empowered to learn and shine.
