My Students
Our students are serious artists. They tell me about their trips to art museums, bring in art they have made at home on their own, and excitedly create work that amazes me every day in our school's art room.
Our school is a neighborhood school in one of the largest urban areas in the country.
Our students come to school from the surrounding neighborhood as well as other parts of the city. Having a diverse group of students means that we have a lot of fun in art class. Our kids are serious about their art projects and tell me how excited they are to come to class. They learn from each other as we tackle new projects each year.
My Project
We have a busy year planned in the art room. Kindergarten students will be learning about art through children's books. I will be working with their teacher to align lessons about families, Ghana, peace, neighborhoods and fabric.
My first graders will travel the world through art!
They will begin with cave art and will explore Ancient Egypt, India, Mexico, Ireland, China, Japan, Australia and the art of Native Americans.
With these materials my second graders will explore the art of famous artists. From Van Gogh to Frida Kahlo, they will learn about various mediums and styles, art movements and famous masterpieces. These lessons require a well-stocked art room. I am requesting paint, crayons, paper and glue.
