Help me give my students a beautiful and inviting large group area that promotes independence and exploration! We would like a “circle time” rug in order to incourage my preschoolers to come find a clear area to sit.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very young children with special needs, most of whom have speech delays and/or autism. They are the most lovable bunch of sweet hearts trying their best to communicate their thoughts and ideas. I strive to provide a social skills based preschool program that is saturated with language opportunities whenever and wherever possible. Through the use of play, and modeling appropriate language, encouraging children to use their words, and practicing social skills, the children in my class can learn about themselves and the world around them.
My Project
In our classroom at the moment we have limited exploration and engagement areas that need additional furniture to create a “Circle Time Area” for the children in my class! With the use of the additional storage unit and classroom “circle time” rug my students will be able to find a seat alongside their friends in an inviting and engaging environment. With the use of these new pieces of furniture, we will promote independence, by asking the children to sit on the floor, next to their peer, while keeping their our personal space which is a huge skill understand and acquire!
