I teach a fun, active group of 25 second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!
My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.
They need engaging ways to practice skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level, need engaging ways to challenge their brains!
They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.
My Project
Can you remember being a child and gathering on a carpet for a Read Aloud? Do you remember how you felt listening to a new story and looking at bright vibrant pictures? My students love when it is time to read. They are so excited to come to the carpet and listen to a story. They are incredibly engaged listening to the story. They are entranced by the story and focused only on what is going on in the book.
Students should be able to see themselves and see what the world around them is like while listening or reading a story.
My students need new diverse books to help them see themselves and see the world around them. These books will be used to teach new writing genres. When students are shown examples of good quality writing, their writing improves! These books are all very well written and beautifully illustrated. I know they will love reading these stories. They will be excited to write just like the author of the book they just read does!
