Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Earth Day will be here soon and we want to have a service project that inspires us as we celebrate our role as stewards of our Earth.

We need a collection of gardening tools that include a wheel barrel, gardening wagon, shovels, rakes, brooms, and pruning sheers for this project.

We are so excited about this event. We will participate in a community service event where everyone will prune overgrown plants, get rid of weeds, and restore overgrown walking paths.

I am excited about this project because the planning and execution of this project will give my students a better understanding of occupations that are related to environmental sciences, civil engineering, retail businesses that sell and rent gardening equipment, and the warehouses that store the machines for landscaping. They will learn about gardening centers and landscaping jobs. The skills they will learn from lessons leading up to this project can also help my students be inspired to work in the garden in their own homes. Perhaps they will add plants that are drought resistant to their garden, or add a vegetable or herb garden.

I can't wait to see how my students will collaborate with each other in the planning and execution of this event. The day that we do this project my students will use these landscaping/gardening equipment and work in teams to complete their tasks, They will be physically active and will celebrate the success of their hard work when the days work is complete. This project will help them improve their communication and social skills. They will work hard, have fun and also get their Vitamin D! Thank you for supporting my fundraiser and thank you for caring about my students.
