Gardening Indoors

Help me give my students an indoor garden growing system, in order to teach how to grow your own vegetables.

My Project

I’m an Occupational Therapist and work with students who are developmentally delayed. Improving sensory awareness allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During Occupational Therapy, they will choose herbs/vegetables that will increase self-motivating behavior in the classroom. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice of what sensory opportunities will enable them to focus and complete an activity. My students will get more work completed when you introduce an indoor garden sensory component. An indoor garden sensory component will improve productivity and motivation in how our students work with their peers.

The product that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional sensory hands-on options to make more effective learning choices.

The indoor garden is adjustable and will allow students to sit at any location and will allow movement. This will be extremely beneficial for some students who just need to get up and move. I have seen how an indoor garden sensory approach can positively affect my students' work and demeanor, and I hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
