My Students

This year, I have a wide range of students. Most of my students are Native American. Some are eager to learn, and others will need that extra push to succeed. The children seem to work really well together and encourage each other.

I believe that all students can and will learn.

They just need to be nurtured and encouraged to succeed. Some just need to know that they are loved and can achieve their goals as long as they don't quit and never give up.

My Project

I am requesting raised garden beds, soil and plant seeds for my students to start a garden at school. My students have been very stressed and it's hard for them to concentrate. I have also selected several books for my students to read that will help them learn gardening. They will keep a journal of what we planted. In the journal, they will keep up with when and what we have planted.

Studies have shown that gardening can improve many aspects of mental health, focus and concentration.

Gardening can also improve students' mood and reduce negative thoughts and feelings. I am hoping that by allowing my students to get their hands dirty and grow something, that the stress and strain of COVID will be reduced, thus, allowing my students to become more focused and allow them to concentrate more in the classroom.
