This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading to children about gardening is not the same as getting your hands into the garden! Wait, there is no dirt area to begin a garden at our center.

The children of my classroom live in the community.

They are children who come from low income families who depend on our services while they are at work. A high percentage of the children speak Spanish and struggle in all subjects. Most of the children spend over eight hours at the center each day.

My Project

I am requesting 1 Garden Time rug, 4 Garden Totes with tools, and 1 Garden Kit. These new garden tools and carpet would give life to our outdoor environment. There is currently no garden at our center. The goal for this school year is to introduce the children to gardening. Gardening is a wonderful way for children to discuss, explore, and learn about plants.

Since our school was built with no trees, grass, or plants, this new garden with be a great beginning.

The beauty of gardening in a preschool program is that you can involve children every step of the way.
