This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Title 1 school is home to many English language students, who are eager to engage and are inspired by hands-on, kinesthetic learning that takes place in the garden.

In order for our students to reach the national average, our teachers have to work twice as hard because they come to us extremely low at the beginning of their education.

Our school is in a lower income area, and the students are not provided with much at home. As teachers we have to provide our students with the extras at school. Getting the kids excited about schooling is important.

With all the challenges presented to these students each day, when they enter the classroom, they are ready and willing to learn. Our students are just starting out and are learning the importance of school. Our garden project is a great way to do it!

My Project

The raised gardening planters requested through this project will give us more gardening opportunities and extend our garden! The planters will be placed next to our garden on the sidewalk area, allowing the students to garden around the two planters.

Empowering our students through gardening will help to inspire them to work together for a common purpose and to encourage environmental stewardship.

Students in all grade levels K-5, will have an opportunity to tend to the school garden, plant and harvest herbs, fruits and vegetables, learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and explore the web of interactions among the living and nonliving things that sustain life. Your donations will inspire many students through hands-on learning in our garden!
