This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What ever happens to recycled "stuff?" Students are told to recycle and reuse things, but are rarely if ever given the opportunity to see anything come of it.
I teach second grade at a Title I school located in a semi-rural area.
The bulk of my students are second language learners who live in apartments and are bused to school. These children often lack enriching experiences that would foster the development of richer language.
My Project
The tumbling composter and pH meter would greatly enhance our school garden. This year, my students have enjoyed harvesting the vegetables from the garden, but do not fully understand the entire process. This tumbler and pH meter will teach them how recycling creates new soil which feeds back into the garden.
Your generous donation will provide language rich experiences for my students.
It will encourage them to read more science and be able to view their contributions to our school becoming "greener."
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
