My Project

It's no secret that students love to play and connect through video games. Our students are seeking ways to connect with their peers, especially after years of lockdown, and many of them have turned to gaming as an outlet. eSports have exploded on the scene, offering students a way to connect and to compete, with colleges now offering scholarships totaling upwards of $16 million (in 2020) for eSports players. We want to capture some of the excitement and opportunities that eSports can provide our students.

Creating an eSports team on campus will allow our students to connect with peers, learn various soft skills and open up possible future opportunities that competitive eSports provides.

Games such as Minecraft Dungeons and Super Smash Bros offer cooperative and competitive play that enhance critical thinking skills and teach teamwork, leadership, and strategy skills.

Students participating in eSports on our campus will also be organizing and running competitions, both in the school and eventually larger competitions within the district. They will be learning how to manage teams, how to advertise and market their events, and how to successfully execute those events. Help us to channel that excitement they have for gaming into skills they can utilize in their future endeavors.

We have already had a family generously donate 2 Nintendo OLED Switch Consoles, but we still need the necessary peripherals, including TVs, extra controllers, and of course some actual video games to play, to get our Team up and running.
