My Students

Our students have all been through a lot of unknown and uncertainty this year. School was once a constant in their lives, whether they loved it or hated it, they could always count on it. Even with the uncertainty, my students want to learn. They seem to really appreciate the times when we are together and experiencing in-person learning experiences. They love the chance to talk to each other and giggle at their math teacher's silly jokes.

My students need and deserve some varied learning experiences; the kind of experiences that will help them rekindle their excitement for and engagement in learning.

They have done so much work online and on their own, I would love to get them back to some hands-on cooperative learning.

My Project

Probability and Statistics is one of five strands taught in Math 7 in Utah. At my school, we teach this strand last of the five because it is a wonderful chance to spiral review everything we have learned in the school year as it applies to probability. This also means we need to teach this material in an engaging fashion as students have a tendency to wind down at the end of the school year.

Probability and statistics are often used as arguments in the real world around us; these materials will help my students obtain a crucial understanding of this topic and keep them engaged in the material.

These materials will help me to teach my students to recognize valid versus invalid studies and how to determine the likelihood of different events.
