Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My project will be kicked off with a cozy reading nook for my high flyer readers with these beanbag chairs. We are hoping to build a “game” library that can be used with sight words and cvc words (while also teaching social skills) to hold our attention while the teacher works in the smaller targeted groups. I have seen Candy Land used in an extremely fun way using cvc and sight words. I would be excited to try this strategy out! I have witnessed children develop waiting and turn taking skills, as well as the ability to lose. Losing and rooting for others is a tricky skill that takes a lot of practice! We want to make our reading groups fun and successful!
