My Students

This year I teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and PreCalculus. My students are excited to be back after the challenges the pandemic brought. But many of the students are having trouble adjusting back to old routines.

My students are relearning how to learn together with other students.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and had many different experiences during the previous school year. Many of them haven't had meaningful learning/social interactions with others through the pandemic.

My Project

After a year of modified/hybrid classes due to the pandemic, and distance education, students are in need of positive ways to engage with their peers. With time away and being isolated from other students, many students have forgotten how to work with one another. Games provide a fun way for students to develop mathematical thinking together.

These games will help students engage in meaningful mathematical discourse while building social and emotional skills of problem solving and collaboration.

The games included in this project will support students throughout their high school mathematics courses (including Algebra1, Algebra 2, and PreCalculus). Some of the specific standards addressed include: A-SSE, A-REI, S-CP.
