Games That Build Minds & Friendships: A Safe, Structured Recess Alternative

Not all students thrive in the hustle and bustle of outdoor recess or fast-paced sports. Some children need a quieter, more structured environment to feel safe, engaged, and included. That’s why we’re seeking support to create an indoor board game space—a welcoming alternative where students can play, learn, and grow together.

With your help, we will offer a range of board games and strategy-based activities that foster social-emotional learning, teamwork, and critical thinking. These games will offer a structured option for students who may struggle with unstructured outdoor play due to social skills challenges, sensory needs, or simply a preference for a calmer environment.

Having a board game recess option will help reduce behavioral issues and provide students with a space where they can build confidence, practice communication skills, and form meaningful peer connections—all while having fun. This space will also support students who benefit from smaller group interactions and those who are still learning how to navigate peer relationships successfully.
