Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There was one day during our WIN period that I wanted to have some fun and I borrowed a colleague's board games for my students. I was surprised how involved my students got in playing the old-fashioned games instead of wanting to use their Chromebook. It's amazing how this simple thing turned into such a fun time for my students, and I love how interested they were in these games. My students even said they could not wait to play the games again and they made requests for games for our classroom.

Students have been so accustomed to using their Chromebooks in class and using their cell phones to communicate that playing board games helped them verbally communicate with one another.

Communicating verbally is something that is very important in life and my students can really use the game playing time to practice this. I cannot wait to surprise them with these games, and we won't need to borrow from another teacher.
