This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
These student are bright, vibrant, and creative kiddos. They are funny, have strong personalities, and love to build relationships. They are interested in learning about the world around them and trying their best.
Many of them have not been around children their age or had the opportunity to practice self-management skills.
They are in need of support in developing coping skills, problem solving strategies, and relating positively to their peers.
My Project
This project is an ongoing counseling space for elementary students. These art materials and games will help students achieve the goals of emotional expression and emotional regulation. Providing artistic outlets and opportunities for play help students maintain regulated emotions throughout their school day.
The socioemotional skills that are explicitly taught and promoted in the counseling space will help students develop strong self skills in future grades and into young adulthood.
During counseling, students engage pro-socially with peers, express themselves through art and play, and build important social and introspection skills.
