Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited about learning, but many lack the financial support to take them to more prominent places. We are located in an economically challenged neighborhood. My students sometimes lack the experience of teamwork. They also need more support with their language skills. My parents want to do better, but with two jobs or no jobs, they sometimes can't give them the time one on one.

In my classroom, I try to provide stability, the vocabulary to express oneself, and the chance for teamwork daily.

I'm trying to give them All I can!!

When it comes to teamwork and building those language skills, we need more hands-on games. They need more practice with higher-order thinking and more peer-to-peer activity. When they arrive in the morning, we do what we call a Soft Start. It allows the students to greet each other, pick a game to play, and get the brain working.

My Project

Games teach many skills. Here are just a few.

Board games offer opportunities for early learning

They get older kids' brains buzzing, too. They boost their language skills and sharpen their focus. Teach the value of teamwork.

Board games are an alternative to time out, and board games soothe anxiety.

They show kids how to be good losers and teammates! These are all skills my kids so desperately need improvement on!! They will be playing and learning at the same time, and they will not even know it! I call it my sneak attack!!
