My students need playground balls, plastic bats and balls, and place markers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Goode's classroom raised $191
This project is fully funded
I teach a group of 17 second grade students in a small town in southern Indiana. The only sport we push in our county is basketball. I want my students to become aware of and learn about other team sports.
With our current economic situation money is not being delegated to physical education. We are not able to replace broken or worn out equipment and therefore our equipment is dwindling. I tried to teach my students how to play kickball with a ball that was dry rotting. The rubber ball had turned to a hard plastic. The students were hurting their hands when they tried to catch it.
I want to provide my students with the opportunity to play sports during physical education class. I need new equipment in order to do this. We need playground balls to play kickball, and plastic bats and balls to play baseball. We also need place markers to show the students where to stand according to their position.
Think about all of the life lessons you learned during team sports. The students who participate in team sports learn to work together, encourage each other, and to follow basic rules. These are lessons every student needs to be successful in life. Everyone in the school will have access and benefit from this equipment.
More than half of students from low‑income households
