My project needs 12 board games for students to play in the library.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Herman's classroom raised $338

I work in as a librarian in a Pre-K to 10th grade public school in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. We have many wonderful books and computers in our library and students greatly enjoy being in our school library.
Last year I put a few of my old board games out for the students to use. Many students who came to the library during lunch started playing these games. It was a task to lure some of them away from the on-line games they were playing on the Internet, but I greatly enjoyed seeing them play games that allowed them to interact with each other. I would often tease them and say that there were old fashioned games at the other end of the library, games that we used to play before the Internet. The kids would laugh and sure enough they would come and check the games out.
I would love to provide more games for the students to play in the library this year. There are many social skills, such as taking turns, playing fair, following directions, etc. that children of all ages can learn from playing games. Many of the children at my school do not have many, if any, board games at home. By providing 15 additional board games to the children to play during their free time in the library they will be able to practice these skills while enjoying each others company in the library.
Are you a "games" person? Did the stem from playing games with friends or family when you were a child? By donating money to help buy additional games for these children, you will be helping create fun memories for these students. You can help students experience the joy of playing games with others.
