This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students, teachers, parents, and the community all come together to support our youth. Poverty, violent crime, drugs, and economic struggle plague our community. The multitude of obstacles on a daily basis that our students face is unfathomable. More than 85% of my students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
But these obstacles do not stunt their grit, personalities, and eagerness to succeed!!
High school sports allows these kids opportunities to stay off the streets and focus on their futures. Our sports management team works so hard, day in and day out, to manage every single sports team for every season at our school. These kids are out on the fields, courts, and practices making sure that all the logistics for every team are accounted for and run smoothly.
We strive as teachers and coaches to guide these students and give them all the opportunitires they deserve to better their lives and become amazing adults. After school sports gives students opportunities for growth, to build confidence, to demonstrate leadership qualities, to improve academic performance, and overall to learn how to overcome and face challenges.
My Project
The cameras we are requesting will allow our sports management team to record and highlight all of our varsity and junior varsity team sports at their games to provide film and highlights to each team to watch on film days. Film allows our teams to build on practice and guide coaching. Our sports management team needs cameras to be able to travel on away games and provide the best quality film for our varsity teams. Highlight videos will also be edited to provide to individual players to showcase talent for scholarship and university opportunities.
