My Students

This school year I have the pleasure of teaching approximately 54 fourth and fifth graders reading. We live in a rural area, and our school has about 225 students enrolled. Our students come from all walks of life with 60% African American students, 31% Hispanic students, and 9% mixed students.

My Project

Many children today think if themselves as GAMERS. I have actually had a few students tell me that they would like to become professional gamers. They enjoy the game, but reading is their list favorite. It is obvious that everything we do requires us to read something.

This project seeks to turn gamers into reader by providing students with books about gaming.

The books will draw them in as readers, while providing them with gaming skills at the same time.

The books I have chosen cover multiple gaming types and genres. Providing my gamers with these books will increase their reading and thinking skills.
