My Students
When I step in front of my classroom at the beginning of the day and look at my students, I know that a great day awaits me. My students greet me with smiles, questions and eager faces; they are ready to learn, and I am ready to teach them all that I can.
My students are incredible, curious, adept, and capable learners.
My students speak different languages (over 19 languages at our school) and all have tremendous talent to share with each other. My students jump into their daily learning with zeal. They work together, laugh together, learn together, and share everything in their classroom community.
My Project
One of the most important foundational math skills a 4th grader learns is to memorize multiplication and division facts. With mastery in the facts, students can recall numbers quickly and tackle tough math challenges each day. Learning math facts takes a lot of practice, patience, repetition, and training. My goal is to make this important skill a fun one to work on!
This project is about helping my students practice math facts at home in a fun way!
Each student in my class will have a set of multiplication and division "math war" card games. These card games will be sent home with the student to practice with. Parent letters will be sent home with the games so that the student can share their learning with their whole family! Students can practice their multiplication facts with a family member, a sibling, a neighbor, and friends. Students will not only have fun remembering their multiplication and division facts, but they will also develop their math fact skills in the 4th grade as well!
I know that this fun method of math practice will increase my students' fact fluency in their math work!
