My Project
I have fond memories of growing up and playing games with my mom...learning how to add because I had to score my own points...learning how to spell because I had to create a large scoring word. I want to provide opportunities to create similar engaging memories for my students and their families while also providing them opportunities to practice their growing English skills.
My students are special because they are learning English as a new language and are often the first English speakers in their families.
Families can struggle with this new dynamic - excited for their child's learning, while also feeling some disconnection, not having ways to engage with their child's developing language skills.
I want to provide games to families that will help them continue to connect as a family in their native languages, while also serve as a conduit to practice newly expanding English language skills.
