Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students, especially those from low-income households, do not have access to books, toys, or educational resources at home.

The materials being donated, will help improve my students’ engagement compared to teaching with traditional worksheets.

Having these interactive centers keeps students engaged and excited about coming to school.

Research supports the effectiveness of game-based learning in mathematics. These strategies are especially powerful for students from underserved communities. By integrating educational games into our curriculum, we create a learning environment that encourages problem-solving, critical thinking, and joyful exploration—skills that are foundational for academic success.

Hands-on literacy centers aligned with the Science of Reading have been proven to boost early reading skills, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. For students who don’t have access to books or literacy support at home, these materials are not just helpful—they’re essential. They provide meaningful, repeated practice in a way that feels like play. The result is not just stronger readers, but students who are excited to come to school every day, knowing they’ll be supported, challenged, and celebrated.

This project will help strengthen my students’ foundational skills in both math and literacy. My hope is to give my students the best possible experience in school and encourage them to become lifelong learners.
