Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Board games are powerful tools for fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and social-emotional learning in elementary students, and our library seeks funding to build a collection that supports these goals. Many of our students come from under-resourced backgrounds and often lack opportunities to engage in structured play that promotes problem-solving, communication, and resilience.
By providing access to a wide variety of board games we aim to create a welcoming environment where students can learn through play.
Board games will be incorporated into library centers, after-school programs, and small group activities, serving as a low-tech but high-impact resource that encourages creativity, teamwork, and perseverance. This collection will not only support academic growth in areas such as math and literacy but also strengthen essential social skills like turn-taking, emotional regulation, and empathy. With grant funding, we hope to purchase durable, age-appropriate board games that can be used across all grade levels, helping students build relationships, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
