This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Second Graders are innovative, intelligent, thinkers and resilient in everything they do. They thrive with hands-on activities that challenge their thinking and allows them to apply our lessons to real life situations. Each day, they come to school ready to explore and apply their creative and unique ideas to our projects.
The school lies in the middle of Washington Heights, which means that the students come from families who are extremely involved in their learning and growth.
Each student is different in terms of what they need and what environment works best for them to learn. I want to be able to provide the best space with an abundance of resources through out the classroom.
My Project
The use of the Splash set (Sight words, CVC words, Vowel sounds, Blends & Digraphs and Two-syllable words) will support the students learning. It will assist them in growing their reading, writing and spelling abilities. This game is very hands on and can be used in teacher groups but also in small groups which further supports their independence.
The Pop & Learn game board along with the Place Value Mystery House Game board supports students in math, specifically with addition, subtraction, place value and word problem.
All of these games are a variety of hands on tools that will further enhance the understanding of the skill/topic being targeted at the moment.
