Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from all over Queens, and reflect the borough's incredible diversity in every way. Through their rich artwork, these artists celebrate their cultural identities, authentically respond to current events, and cultivate their own agencies for change. In addition, their artwork has been selected and shown by the Queens Museum for several years running.
Although my students have achieved great artistic success, they still need a more secure and lasting way to display their work throughout our school gallery.
My Project
My students make incredible artwork but most have yet to see it presented in a professional way. In addition, visitors to our school and other students, who do not take art, cannot fully appreciate the artistic prowess of our students without proper display of their work.
By funding this project, you will provide a secure and professional display for the great artwork made at our school and an immeasurable sense of pride for the artists whose work is framed.
Middle school is such a formative time for students. With this in mind, something as simple as a student seeing his or her own artwork framed on a school wall can be life-changing.
