This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My biggest challenge is having students recalling their math skills. My students have to take a state exam at the end of the school year and having them remember all that they have learned in one year is difficult for them.

My students attend a public school in Florida.

Our school is a Title I school, as the majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. Over 90% of the student population is ESOL (ELL) who are limited English speakers. Our school is also over 90% Hispanic, however we do have some students from other countries. They all show the same joy of learning and enthusiasm.

My Project

My students enjoy their math class and are eager to learn. We are constantly reviewing skills but some still have difficulty recalling information. Children love games and what better way to learn than through a game. The folder games I posted on this project will help students learn and recall their math skills. Playing as a team will also help them teach each other and give each other new ideas. The folder games will be used in class as well as before school during tutoring class. I have many students who are just learning to speak English, and I feel the folder games will help them improve their language as they interact with their peers.

The folder games will allow students to continue learning when they have completed their assignment.

They will help in reinforcing math skills and will allow the ESOL students to interact in English with other students. Students who have not experienced success in math may soon be looking forward to class in order to play the games and win!
