This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has a brand new PE program that serves low income students. It is my goal to raise funds to purchase PE equipment that students can use to help promote an active and healthy lifestyle for a lifetime.

The addition of a Gaga Ball Pit will benefit every student at our elementary school since I am the only PE teacher for 600 students from grades TK through 6th grade.

Gaga Ball is a fun, exciting new game that is a student favorite.

The pit can be set up both outdoors and indoors. Our PE program is based solely outdoors. However on rainy days, PE class takes place inside of a small classroom. Having a Gaga Ball Pit will allow for the flexibility of having an engaging game indoors that will keep students physically active in such a small space.

Although the Gaga Ball Pit was created for the game, “Gaga Ball,” I will be able to utilize the pit to develop lessons that focus on a variety of skills. Younger students can practice their throwing and catching skills by playing the game, “Oscar’s Trash Can.” The Gaga Ball pit can be utilized to focus on other skills as well because the walls can act as activity barriers, targets, etc.

This is an item that I am very hopeful that I can bring to my students, and I have wanted to implement it into my PE program for a while. The Gaga Ball Pit will allow the PE program to integrate activities that promote positive teamwork skills, enhance communication skills, and build community among students by providing students with the opportunity to work together to achieve a common goal.
