This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Vincent Van Gogh once said, "The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting!" I completely agree, my students are happy when they paint. However, Visual Art in many classrooms is currently being overlooked. Without art, there is no creativity!
My students are smart, driven, and very verbal.
They are 95% Hispanic and 5% African American. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations, like the lack of food, that others take for granted. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations. In my classroom, they get to dream, the sky is the limit. They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have become celebrated community heroes.
The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They will thrive as enthusiastic learners if they are provided with 2 iPads to research famous painters and art master pieces. My ultimate goal is to provide them with experiences and recollections of unforgettable memories in our second grade class.
My Project
Due to budget cuts, Visual Art is taking a back seat in our classrooms. However, with the help of wonderful donors like the Lily Sarah Grace Fund, my students will have access to art through the use of applications. They will have access to the Internet and educational applications that teach them about art, artists, & techniques. The most famous artists have an app dedicated to their wonderful master pieces. For instance, Van Gogh, DaVinci, Monet, Picasso, and Dali all have apps. My students can also take virtual tours of the Louvre & the National Gallery in London through apps. They can access apps like Digital Art Creative Techniques & Crayola Digi Tools 3-D to practice techniques. My students will learn about famous artists & their paintings and will be encouraged to create their own artwork. My students will explore & create their own masterpieces independently after being taught techniques, art mediums, values, & hues through hands-on art lessons inspired by famous artists like Van Gogh.
I need your generosity to help my students have technology to use, and produce their own art pieces.
They deserve to learn about colors, lines, patterns, shades, shadows, value, and hues. My students will learn about famous painters like Van Gogh and Picasso & their contributions to modern art. Please help me put my students one step ahead of success by learning to appreciate art. In turn, my students will grow to be more appreciative of all the things in nature, & in life, that surrounds them.
