Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students I serve are English Language Learners. My students are always eager and ready to learn but tend to struggle do to their deficiencies of the English language. Unless you’re an ESL teacher, it’s hard to fully understand what occurs in their brains as they are learning a new language. It’s a challenge for ELL students to fully comprehend what is being taught due to their lack of vocabulary. What I love most about them is the trust they put forth in me as their educator, and as a result, I am able to watch them grow and flourish.
My Project
My students will be developing and strengthening the English language through the content of earth, life and physical science. Giving my students scientist lab coats will help them stay engaged because they will feel like real scientist. I purchased disposable ones last year and would like to have ones that are washable for year to year use. Second graders love to engage in hands on activities and as a scientist that’s what we do. We determine a hypotheses and then work our little hands to prove it to be true or false.
